Simón Bolívar Hydroelectric Plant: Guri Modernization, Rehabilitation of 750 MW Generating Units, Guri, Venezuela.

FAPCO works, as designated subcontractor of the company Andritz, in the overhaul of Generation Units in the Simón Bolívar Hydroelectric Complex located in Guri.

Each unit is completely disassembled, all components are rehabilitated, modifications are made to the turbine shaft and rings to accommodate a taller turbine and correct recurring cavitation damage. Sensors are installed in penstock, spiral box and draft tube for efficiency measurements, a new turbine and a new upper cover are installed. The entire unit is reassembled, dry-tested, water-tested, and placed in service. It is verified that the rehabilitated unit reaches the design generation power.
