Simón Bolívar Hydroelectric Plant: Maintenance of Gate Systems. Guri

Fapco Hydro has rehabilitated different components of the hydroelectric plant's gate system in several occasions. Namely, anti trash grills, gates and stop logs, hydraulic systems, intake filling system.

If required, divers submerge up to 90 m deep to inspect guides, assist in the extraction of grills and stop logs, perform water leakage control, underwater inspection of damage, among others.

Grates, stop logs and gates are removed, clean by water jet, inspected and disassembled. Repairs are made to the structure. The old paint and any rust are then removed by sandblasting. New paint coaiting is applied to protect it. They are rearmed by placing rubber seals, screws, guides, among others. Some accessories such as guides, roller chains, etc. are rehabilitated or replaced according to what the inspection indicates.

Once rehabilitated, they are reinstalled in their operation or storage slots as appropriate.

The hydraulic units and jacks that operate the intake gates are rehabilitated.

At the end, the client has rehabilitated equipment that will remain operational and in good working order for many years.
